Kevin E. Cooney
South Windsor Chief

Fire Chief Kevin E. Cooney is a 35 year member of the South Windsor (CT) Fire Department; all volunteer 125 member organization. He started his fire service career following his Dad’s footsteps and rose through the ranks and currently serving as Fire Chief.

His fire service love brought him to his career as a Lt. with the Manchester Fire-Rescue-EMS Department / IAFF Local 1579 where is in his 20th year.

Chief Cooney is Commander Emeritus of the Connecticut Statewide Honor Guard (CTHG). He is a co-founding member of the CTHG and is still active with the organization. Kevin is also a former Commander of local Honor Guards with South Windsor and Manchester (IAFF local 1579) Fire Departments. With his Honor Guard passion, he has been active with the Foundation during the Memorial Weekends as well as local and State Memorials.

Kevin is well known and respected for his long tenure of attending LODD services throughout New England supporting the families and Brothers and Sisters of our Fallen. Kevin also serves on the Advisory Committee to the Board of Directors for the NATIONAL FALLEN FIREFIGHTERS FOUNDATION, representing VCOS / IAFC.

Chief Cooney holds numerous Officer / Instructor certifications from the CT Fire Academy, National Fire Academy and was a Certified Fire Marshal.

Chief Cooney is active with many fire service organizations: IAFC/VCOS, CT FIRE CHIEFS ASSOC., CT Fire Department Instructors Association (past Treasurer and Secretary), Hartford County Fire Emergency Plan (former Director and Deputy Coordinator), NFA Alumni Assoc. (former CT Co-coordinator), CT IAAI, CT Fire Marshals Assoc., and many social fire related groups. He also serves on the CT Fallen Fire Fighters Memorial Committee.

Kevin resides in South Windsor, CT with the love of his life, Christine, and their daughters.

Ken Morgan
Fire Chief Meriden Fire and Emergency Services

Ken Morgan has been the Chief of the Meriden Fire Department since the beginning of 2016. He has twenty-eight years in the fire service, including 23 years with Clark County Fire Department and has risen through the ranks holding the positions of Firefighter, Engineer, Captain, Battalion Chief, and Deputy Fire Chief and now Chief.

Chief Morgan has over fifteen years of management experience in the fire service and has been a Nationally Registered paramedic for 30 years. Chief Morgan has completed the Executive Fire Officer Program from the National Fire Academy, and holds a designation as a Chief Fire Officer from the Center for Professional Excellence. Additionally, He is a member of the Institute of Fire Engineers, Connecticut Fire Chiefs, and the Connecticut Career Fire Chiefs.
