As President Trzaski has announced,  Retired Middletown Fire Chief George Dunn has passed away.  Over five decades, Dunn worked his way up from firefighter, fire lieutenant, deputy fire marshal, deputy chief and finally fire chief — a post he held from 1986 to 1994. He was former Mayor Domenique Thornton’s assistant for four years, OEM director from 2002 to 2010, returned to consulting work, and then again assumed the emergency director’s job from 2014 to 2017.
Chief Dunn was President of the Connecticut Fire Chief’s Association in 1992.
The wake for Chief Dunn will be held on Tuesday, July 23rd from 4 to 7 at the Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver Street in Middletown.  The funeral services will be on Wednesday, July 24 at the funeral home at 10 AM followed by the church services at St Francis of Assisi Church located at 10 Elm Street, Middletown
Out of respect for Chief Dunn, we are rescheduling the CFCA July meeting in Portland until the following Tuesday, July 30.

The Monthly Dinner Hybrid Meeting of the CT Fire Chiefs Association will be rescheduled to Tuesday, July 30 2024. We will meet at 6 PM, before a picnic dinner at 6:30 PM, on the CT river followed by your monthly meeting at 7:30 PM. The picnic meeting will be held at the Portland Fire Department, #2 Picnic Grounds on 84 Indian Hill Avenue, Portland, CT.  A ZOOM link will be sent to the membership via email if you cannot attend the event.

The guest speaker for the July meeting is Director PJ Norwood and he will be discussing the CT Fire Service High School Program.
Chief Thurz is looking to reschedule the golf game at the  Portland Golf Club.  He will be sending out a separate email as plans come together.
